Volcom Purchases Pipeline House on Oahu's North Shore

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Volcom, Inc. (NASDAQ:VLCM - News) announced today that it has completed its purchase of a house located directly in front of the world famous Pipeline surf break on Oahu's legendary North Shore.

The residence will accommodate Volcom's surf team riders during the winter surf season and will be the location for various Volcom marketing functions throughout the year.

Pro Surfing Guru Sunny Garcia is going to Jail!

Damn the the man and that man has Sunny Garcia on their hit list. He apparently has been evading taxes while globe trotting and surfing. Hey I would probably due it to!
"2000 World Champ Sunny Garcia got the news from the judge yesterday, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. Garcia has known for a number of months now that he’d in all likelihood go to jail – up to three years -- for tax evasion. Snoop Dogg is starting a Skateboard company

With all the hype surrounding Hip-Hop and Skateboarding this doesn't really surprise me much. Snoop Dogg is genius with music and he obviously realizes that there is massive potential with Hip Hop influence in the skateboard industry. Pharrell Williams aka "Skateboard P" has his own skate team, skate shoes, and is deeply rooted in skateboarding. How many skate video's do you watch with Rap and Hiphop music in them? How many of us skateboarder listen to that type of music while skating and just chillin? The answers is damn near all of us. Its cool to see major Hip Hop artists help keep pushing the momentum of the skateboarding culture. I'm sure there are many who see this as selling out, but screw them! The more main stream Skateboarding becomes the less hassle there will be by police and non skaters(The Man). Skate Parks will become as common as a normal parks someday as long as we keep the popularity alive. I'm glad the culture and industry of our sport is growing as major players step into the game. I see this as only helping our sport continue to grow and merge into new areas.
